What is IV Hydration Nutritional Therapy?

IV Nutritional Therapy is a type of therapy commonly used for its wide range of health benefits. These benefits include, but are not limited to anti-aging, improved immunity, dehydration cures, treating acute migraines and more.

Although many may believe that nutrient deficiencies are not common, there are still many individuals who aren’t getting the essential nutrients our bodies need to perform optimally.

Because IV hydration treatment is administered directly into the veins, the results may be faster than those of oral or other traditional supplements. The physicians of Two Rivers Urgent Care and Wellness believe IV Therapy can be safe, effective and restorative.

These treatments can be customized to suit the unique needs of each individual patient.

Below are some of the more popular blends of IV therapy that we offer.

IV DRIPS

IV Fluids

Feeling dehydrated? Have you not been eating well or are you working hard outside in the heat? You can come to our clinic and get a one-liter bag of IV fluids. This fluid composition is very similar to that of your plasma, and one liter of fluid intravenously will rehydrate you in minutes. This will promptly relieve common symptoms of dehydration such as fatigue, headache, nausea, lightheadedness, unclear thinking, and rapid heart rate.

That’s not all – you can always inquire with our physicians about your needs, and we can customize your IV bag with the additives most important and necessary for you.

The Athlete

Want a quicker recovery? With this blend you will rehydrate your muscle cells, boost energy, increase protein absorption and enhance growth and recovery of your muscles.

Banana Bag

Beat the signs of hangover and dehydration with this favorite! Give yourself an extra day by expediting your recovery after a night of fun with this cocktail. Our banana bag uses a combination of the five B vitamins with folic acid to help replenish those nutrients and get you back to doing your job. Besides these vitamins, one liter of intravenous fluids will hydrate your body in minutes, something that drinking gallons of water can only accomplish after 6-8 hours.

Myers Cocktail

The “Gold Standard” for delivering intravenous vitamins and minerals directly to your bloodstream. Dr. Myers pioneered the use of this intravenous nutrient therapy in the 1960’s. This famous vitality cocktail has been a favorite for decades in replenishing essential vitamins and minerals for optimal hydration.

Migraine Cocktail

Migraines are headaches of varying intensity, often accompanied by nausea and sensitivity to light and sound. You can take over the counter medications, but they may not be enough. Sometimes going to the hospital is the only way to stop the suffering. You do not have to wait in the busy emergency room waiting room for hours to be seen. Come schedule your treatment at our urgent care, which is operated by three board certified emergency room physicians. Our IV migraine therapy does not contain any narcotics and uses the same combination of medications used in the local emergency rooms.

The Skinny

Lipo-B (MIC):

Lipo-B injection is a product that contains a combination of compounds that have been shown to exhibit lipotropic effects. These effects facilitate the burning of adipose tissue within the human body which may, consequently, result in weight loss. Lipo-B injections are typically used as fat loss supplements, in combination with diet and exercise, in weight loss plans. The combination of products that make up the Lipo-B (MIC) injection are methionine, inositol, choline, and cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12)

Methionine: Helps break down sugars and carbohydrates and convert to energy.
Inositol: Converts food to energy.
Choline: Cuts muscle recovery time, helps convert fat to energy

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 plays a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system and in the formation of red blood cells. Lack of B12 can lead to anemia, causing you to feel tired and weak. Vitamin B12 injection has many benefits such as: improvement in energy levels, improvement in metabolism, helping with weight loss, regulating circadian rhythm, increasing concentration and boosting the immune system.

Biotin

Biotin is a dietary component that is important for the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and amino acids. It is found in liver, kidney, and muscles. As a dietary supplement, biotin has been promoted to be useful in the treatment of hair and nail problems, cradle cap (seborrheic dermatitis) in phenylketonuria patients, biotinidase deficiency, diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, candida infection, and high cholesterol. It has been used during pregnancy, as biotin deficiency is more likely during this time. Sources of biotin include organ meats, eggs, fish, seeds, and nuts.

L-Carnitine

Levocarnitine (L-3-hydroxy-4-N-trimethylaminobutyrate) is synthesized in the liver from the amino acids methionine and lysine. This naturally occurring substance is found in all mammalian tissues, especially striated muscle, and is required in energy metabolism, such as the oxidation of fatty acids, facilitating the aerobic metabolism of carbohydrates, and enhancing the excretion of certain organic acids.

Levocarnitine has been used in the treatment of primary and secondary carnitine deficiency in adults and neonates, Alzheimer’s disease, dilated cardiomyopathy in adults and children, valproic acid-induced hepatotoxicity in children, and hyperlipoproteinemia. It has been designated an orphan drug for a variety of conditions. It is used in alcohol induced fatty liver, Down’s syndrome, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Some athletes use carnitine supplements to increase exercise performance, and weight loss.

Carnitine does have side effects and should not be used in patient with seizures, peripheral neuropathy or liver disease. Some of the side effects include GI upset and body odor. Please take these into consideration before starting.

B vitamins are necessary for the proper function of the methylation cycle, DNA synthesis, repair and maintenance of phospholipids and generally essential for healthy skin, muscles, brain, and nerve functions.

Vitamin B1 (Thiamine): Plays an important role in energy metabolism, immunity boosting and functioning of nervous system.
Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin): It is a powerful antioxidant and plays a vital role in maintaining healthy blood cells and boosts metabolism.
